Death receptor 4 variants and colorectal cancer risk.
The tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand receptor modulates apoptotic response by binding to the proapoptotic death receptor 4 (DR4). Perturbed apoptosis due to missense alterations in the candidate tumor suppressor gene DR4 leads to deregulated cell proliferation and cancer predisposition. Recent studies have discussed the association of DR4 variants with cancer risk. We eva...

متن کاملDeath receptor 4 and bladder cancer risk.
Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand stimulates the extrinsic apoptoticpathway by binding to death receptors 4 (DR4) and 5 (DR5). In DR4 exon 4, a C-->G polymorphism at amino acid 626 located immediately 3' to one of the main receptor ligand interface regions, results in a threonine-->arginine change. We found that the DR4 exon 4 G/G genotype was associated with an overall de...
متن کاملToll-like receptor genetic variants and colorectal cancer
Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in Toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5), encoding a sensor for flagellin, have been shown to influence cytokine responses to intestinal bacteria and to be associated with significant alterations in the survival of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) patients. These findings point to a link between TLRs and CRC that may have both therapeutic and prognostic/predictive implications.
متن کاملMicroRNA variants and colorectal cancer risk: a meta-analysis.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a multi-factorial disease, and genetic background may contribute to its etiology. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in microRNAs (miRNAs) may be used as specific markers of predisposition for CRC diagnosis and prevention. In this review, we summarize and discuss recent publications evaluating the roles of miRNA SNPs in CRC. A meta-analysis was also carried out to...
